After Kotak’s first Facebook based instant funds transfer platform (KayPay), ICICI is all set to hit the market with “icicbankpay”.
India’s largest private sector bank, ICICI now lets you transfer money or check account balance using Twitter. The company’s new banking service ‘icicibankpay’ allows their customers to transfer money to anyone in the country who has a Twitter account, check account balance, view last three transactions and also recharge prepaid mobile. Any ICICI Bank savings account customer, who has a mobile number registered with the bank and has a Twitter account, can access this facility and this is completely secure, says the company.
ICICI Bank becomes the first bank in India to allow money transfer on Twitter. Rajiv Sabharwal, Executive Director, ICICI Banksaid that they are the first bank in Asia and globally the second one to introduce transfer of funds via Twitter.
“With the growing prominence of social media in every-day life, we believe our customers would be delighted to have yet another avenue which allows them to bank while they are on social media. In line with this, we introduced the world’s most comprehensive banking facility on Facebook in 2013. Now, ‘icicibankpay’ will help our customers to execute banking transactions while they are socialising on Twitter,” he added.
