1. Tell us a little bit about “InnovationM”.
InnovationM provides specialized consulting, design & development services in the mobility space – helping clients build mobile solutions on consumer and enterprise side. Our experience & capabilities are to build native solutions for phones and tablets (Android, iOS, Windows Phone…) as well HTML5-based mobile web solutions. And, in all our designs & solutions, UI Design and User Experience (UX) is the core!
2. What inspired the creation of “InnovationM”?
While working for several organizations in India and abroad for 16 years, I realized the shortage of quality workforce in Mobile Technology & UX/UI Design. I thought of starting corporate training cum development centre wherein we can train the software engineers who are ready to learn and work on mobile app development. Our work culture, friendly atmosphere helped them to stick with us. This is when we decided to completely move out from training and started focusing on mobile design & development. And the result is in front of us – InnovationM became Top 10 Mobile Application Development Companies in India within 3 years of establishment.
3. What is your target audience and why?
InnovationM target clients mainly from US, Canada, UK, Australia and India. Recently we have added one of the world’s leading Singapore-based consulting firm as our client. We work with serious customers who have a clear vision to develop their mobile solutions irrespective of any geography. We focus more on enterprises to help them build their mobile business solutions rather than consumer focused applications.
4. What is unique about your company?
InnovationM has a very strong focus on User Experience (UX) & UI Design. We believe in not just building mobile apps that just works but should have a high usability and provide a very high experience to the user. Our clients appreciate the time and effort spent on UX/UI Design.
5. What problem does your company solve?
InnovationM has mobile in its roots & design in its culture. We not only help companies design & develop mobile solutions for smartphones & tablets but also help them to strategize their mobile requirement. We suggest the most suitable mobile platform (HTML5, Native or Hybrid) depending upon their business/project requirement, target audience, cost, accessibility, and many other factors.

8. What risk are you facing?
Mobile Development has become more of a commodity now. Anyone (a student, freelancer ….) can create a set of screens on mobile and call it mobile app. This has led to the emergence of many small organizations in the mobile space who actually don’t focus on the quality of the app. Due to which our prospects sometimes claim us to provide an app in an unrealistic time-frame & cost. But they need to understand the difference between a set of screens & a high usability mobile application. Any good solution requires investment and we invest in understanding the business requirement, target audience and upfront design & architecture before we write a single line of code.
9. What is your greatest competitive advantage?
Our greatest competitive advantage is that we provide end to end mobile solutions development, we focus on UX/UI Design, we follow agile, and we are still small to give a focused attention to our clients.
Any serious mobile development requires multiple resources and skills coming together to build a world-class solution. When clients come to us, they know that they are not talking to a developer but an organization who brings in all skills into their project which are required to successfully design & deliver a product.

10. What has been your most effective marketing technique?
In terms of our marketing strategy, we focus on digital & social media marketing. We are on top search results when it comes to people searching for a specialized mobile design & development company. We have a very active presence on Twitter and LinkedIn. Working with research firms and online directories such as BDC, SourcingLine helps boost our digital presence and we are committed to work and support our partners. Lastly, we have a very active blog. It is very common for people to “refer” our blog in various forums, for ex in stack overflow.
When it comes to marketing for our UX/UI services and capabilities (which is our USP), we do a few targeted things:
a) Last year we formalized our UX/UI process and named it “Design Heights” – http://www.innovationm.com/design-heights.php. Its a repository of mobile & web design patterns collated based on client interaction, internal InnovationM Design Workshops as well a deep research on the design patterns which the industry is following to solve common design problems.
b) We have recently launched a separate blog for UX/UI Design. Earlier it was a part of our Technology Blog.
11. What outsiders have been most important to your business (eg. Mentors, bankers etc.)
Strategic Advisors (based in countries like US, UK, Canada, Australia …) are very important for us. They help us understand the local market; strategize business development & sales techniques thereby expanding our presence globally.
12. What is your advice to young entrepreneurs starting today?
People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing. So my advice to young entrepreneurs is to follow your passion, identify where you are good at and what you enjoy doing. Business will grow with your love & passion.
13. How has been your journey so far as an entrepreneur?
I am an entrepreneur since 3+ years now & enjoying every bit of it. I succeeded in forming a team of like-minded individuals who are passionate about Technology, Architecture & Design. There have been times when we had to work long hours for continuous days. But with a great team it is fun working. Every member at InnovationM is a Leader, a Motivator, a Mentor and a Creator. We enjoy celebrating every small win together. This makes InnovationM a great organization.
14. Where do you see yourself and your venture 5 years from now?
Our goal is to have an active presence in US in the next 3 years. We want to focus more on US & Canada clients in the coming years. We also want to build some of our own products with high user experience & usability.
