Hello readers, today we are in conversation with Mr Nischay who helps you get the best domestic help around you, this Bangalore based startup solves your every blue collar sector need.So lets see what Nischay has to say about it.
1.Tell us a little bit about “Honestcollars.com”.
honestcollars is the one place to discover the best domestic help around you. Currently we provide listings of six categories for about half of Bangalore including cooks, maids, electricians, plumbers, painters and carpenters. Our listings have detailed information about the helper with verified identification (personally met and mostly verified govt. ID cards). There is also a review and rating system that helps to find BETTER help, currently helpers can be rated on three criteria Punctuality, Behavior and Expertise.
2.What inspired the creation of “Honestcollars.com”?
Staying in Bangalore I faced difficulty finding a cook despite knowing that Bangalore has a lot of cooks because of the unorganized nature of the sector. Mostly I could only get a contact or two through friends or fb groups after days of seeking. I was also cheated by an electrician who charged me more than the original price of a fitting and I couldn’t do anything about it.
3.What is your target audience and why?
Our target audience are the urban dwellers in cities who are staying in owned or rented houses. Life in a city is already very busy and people don’t want to waste days finding a helper or getting fixes done.
4.What is unique about your company ?
We are determined to be transparent and technology oriented.
5.What problem does your company solve ?
honestcollars tries to make the blue collar sector more organized by bridging the technology gap.
We can now make a better decision when hiring a cook or an electrician with more options. The helpers are also motivated to provide a better service to maintain a good rating.
6.Who are the founders and key team members ?
Currently the honestcollars team consists of just the two of us – Rajat Garodia and Nischay Nahata.
7.What relevant domain experience do they have ?
I have been working as a software engineer for 2 years at Wikipedia and Akamai Technolgies. Rajat is from commerce background brings in experience in finance, economics and other company best practices. He has done CS and is now in the CA finals.
To solve a plethora of problems in the blue collar sector and to simplify the hiring process.
8.What risk are you facing?
The risk is of burning out gathering the huge amount of data available. We are trying to make our process of database building more and more efficient.
9.What is your greatest competitive advantage?
We believe that our focus on technology is our biggest advantage.
10.What has been your most effective marketing technique?
Word of mouth has been the most effective technique and we are keen on continuing on it.
11.What outsiders have been most important to your business (eg. Mentors, bankers etc.)
Fellow entrepreneurs and startup events have been very helpful to us. We are delighted to see how easily we can get acquainted on social media and how everyone is always ready to help.
12.What is your advice to young entrepreneurs starting today?
Don’t be discouraged by a bad day, instead be ready to put even more effort the next day.
13.How has been your journey so far as an entrepreneur?
There are ups and downs but we have been very lucky to be received 100% positively. People have told us in our survey that we are solving a big problem they face in their day-to-day life in the right way, many have even offered help. That will keep us going.
14. Where do you see yourself and your venture 5 years from now?
5 years is a big time, we hope to have covered most cities in India by then. One should be able to get a cook trained to cook based on your diet requirement, an electrician traveling the shortest distances possible to homes.
