TastyKhana (backed by Delivery Hero) has been acquired by Rocket Internet backed Global online food delivery marketplace FoodPanda. The financials of the investment are not yet disclosed.The announcement comes three months after FoodPanda’s recent funding round of $60 million. The company had raised $20 million in 2013.
The two groups largely operate in different markets, with Delivery Hero being more active in Europe and Foodpanda in the emerging markets. With these acquisitions, FoodPanda now has a presence in 38 countries, while Delivery Hero has grown to be active in 23 countries(including 440 in its Berlin headquarters.). The company enables restaurants to become visible in the online and mobile world and provides them with a constantly evolving online technology
Ralf Wenzel, co-Founder and managing director of FoodPanda group said, “The acquisition allow us to extend our market leadership in India.”
OTHER ACQUISITIONS BY FoodPanda:
Foodpanda has also acquired Mexican food delivery businesses PedidosYa, SeMeAntoja and Superantojo. They had been operating in the Mexican market since December 2012 under Hellofood brand, will expand its base to 2,500 restaurants.
On the other hand, Delivery Hero has acquired the hellofood businesses in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. It’s customers will now have access to 17,500 restaurants across eleven countries in Latin America, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Venezuela.
